Britney Spears said she was sad to hear her son Jayden express his disappointment with the way she “struggled” for their love as a mother.
“[I]t saddens me so much to know [Jayden’s] Crying that I didn’t live up to his expectations from the mother… and maybe one day we can meet face to face and talk about this frankly!!!! Spears wrote in a lengthy midnight post on Instagram.
Jayden Federline, 15, spoke about his feelings for his mother in a sit-down interview with director Daphne Barak that sparked her dismay in an article published by the Daily Mail earlier in the day.
“I think my mom struggled to give us attention and show us equal love and I don’t think she showed enough for Preston and I feel really bad for that,” he began. “We’ve been through so much stress in the past that this is our safe place now, to process all the emotional trauma we’ve been through to heal, and to heal our mental state.”
Jayden and brother Sean Preston Federline, 16, have not seen their mother in months, according to their father and Spears ex-husband Kevin Federline. They also did not attend Speer’s wedding to Sam Asgari.
Jayden, who has spoken about himself and his older brother, has spoken of the difficulty of having a mother constantly in the spotlight, but said he believes their relationship with their mother is mendable.
According to Barak’s account in the Daily Mail, he said, “It will take a lot of time and effort.” “I just want her to get better mentally. When she gets better, I really want to see her again.”
He addressed Spears directly, sharing with her how much he loves her.
“I love you so much, and I hope you have the best,” Jayden said in a plea to his mother. “Maybe one day we can sit like this and talk again.”
Spears responded lovingly toward her boys, but also knocked out some of their sayings and their dads.
“Finally at the age of forty with no strings attached what my family has done to me…I tell my son Jayden I am sending you all the love in the world every day for the rest of my life!!!!” Spears Books. My love for my children knows no bounds.
She also directly appealed to Preston in the post, sending her love to him as well.
However, Spears was particularly upset about Jayden’s comment on her mental health and his defense of her father, Jimmy Spears, who kept her on guard for 13 years.
“As for my mental health… my dear child you have to learn how to pick up a book and read it before you turn to think of my intellectual darling!!!”
Jayden said his grandfather Jimmy didn’t deserve the hate he was receiving.
“I love him with all my heart,” said the 15-year-old. “He was just trying to be a father.”
Spears criticized her son’s remarks in her Instagram post.
“Psss if you can sit down frankly and say with your reasonable brilliant mind that what the note and the claw did to me was good and you describe them as not being bad people…then yes I failed as a mother and I hope this is a conversation for you and your dad to sit face to face and try to figure out what’s good.”
The pop star also criticized the boy’s father for not having a job and “smoking weed every day”, calling him a hypocrite.
“It is horrible to see your father as a hypocrite and say the media is horrible and yet you talked to them about personal matters!!!” Spears Books. “If you could just take a moment and remember where you came from!!! I hope you look in the mirror and remember… you are my child and always will be!!!!”
Spears and Federline married in October 2004 and separated by July 2007 after Preston and Jayden. Federline has primary custody of the boys.
